The situation is worsening due to the flood of Sharda river in Lakhimpur Kheri district. Sampurnanagar’s college ground, college, primary school, police station premises, hospital and other places are flooded. Water is flowing on Mill Road, Bihari Colony, Sampurnanagar-Khajuria Road. Traffic has also been closed on Palia- Nighasan road due to rising water. Police has issued an advisory in this regard. Traffic is already closed on Bhira-Paliya road. Sharda river has eroded the railway track for about 50 meters on Palia-Bhira railway section. DM Durga Shakti Nagpal has appealed to the flood affected people to go to safer places.




The water of Sharda, Ghaghra and Mohana rivers, which have swelled due to rain and water released from the barrage, has entered more than 100 villages. Traffic has been stopped on the Palia-Bhira road for two days due to river water flowing on the road. The movement of vehicles has also been stopped in Sampurnanagar-Khajuria. Trains on the Mailani-Paliya route have been cancelled. On the other hand, the water of Mohana river is flowing on the Rapta bridge.


DM’s appeal: Move to safer places

DM Durga Shakti Nagpal said that all the villagers should go to the relief camps with their animals. The district administration has made elaborate arrangements there. She also instructed the officers and employees engaged in flood relief and rescue to provide all possible help to those affected by the disaster. SDM nodal and tehsildar co-nodal officers have been nominated for successful operation of relief and rescue. District level officers have also been deployed for assistance.


School closed in Palia area

In view of flood and rain, DM Durga Shakti Nagpal has declared holiday on July 9 in all schools including CBSE, ICSE in Palia area. This order is only for the schools and colleges of Palia tehsil area which has been ordered by the DM.


Due to torrential rains, villages like Naya Pind, Ganganagar, Rannagar, Ramnagar Mujha, Janakpur, Tanda, Kaudiyala, Babapurwa, Deepnagar etc. of Kheretia in the border area of ​​Mohana river are flooded. Flood water is flowing rapidly on the Kaudiyala Gurudwara road. More than half a dozen people have lost contact with Tikunia market.
